"And what the heck is it with tight pants and homosexuals!!"
Looking back at Bethel, there were lots of comments that showed how the GB, George Couch, and plenty of others were fascinated with homosexuality. And they seemed to think it was something contageous that new boys could catch by being downwind of Greenwich Village.

"And don't forget the parents whose children left the the organization."
Indeed. Like earlier posts mentioned, looks like it's time for us exJW kids to love-bomb the folks. I'll have to give that some thought...

I've finally been away long enough that "Gog of Magog" just sounds like the title of a Dr. Seuss book.

"in the few closing comments the speaker said he was sure this meeting would be remembered for a long time"
I would venture to guess that most would remember some of the corny jokes by the time they got out to the parking lot. By Wednesday, most have even forgotten that. I'd guess that only the sisters will remember this meeting... because of the remark about only marrying MS.

"total attendance 759,156"
The US branch territory should have been over a million, I would think.

cantleave: "Did you end up in the Canadian oil sands or somewhere less hostile?"
Much less hostile. I'll be staying in the same exciting city! (Sorry I missed your recent visit. Things have been hectic, to say the least.)
scoobydont: "Now, don't you be like that naughty little boy who left the BORG and got himself a nice degree and then forgot to return to his mentor, the BORG, to say "thank you" for all the "inspiration and motivation" they provided you with !"
I think my parents are still hoping for my return to the cult, but that isn't going to happen.
CHG: "I have one more year, then I finsh my masters and I will do a happy dance with ya (hopefully with my own job as well)!!"
After spending so much money to do work in school, it's nice getting paid money to do work at a job.
GreenhornChristian: "This is inspiration for me. I've been considering going to college myself."
Pursuing this degree has been a hell of a committment, but has worked for me so far. Your results may vary.

What does the building of Warwick HQ have to do with the Society's expectation of the end?
by Apognophos inthis topic is a couple years late, but i just wanted to get this off my chest.
i don't understand why people say that the society starting a project that won't finish until 2017 means that the end can't come until then, or that they don't expect the end before then.
this isn't a very logical line of thought.

If the GB really believed their prophecies that government will turn on religion and will seek to persecute JWs in particular, having this compound will make the GB and all the cult leadership vulnerable to capture, imprisonment, or wiping out with one missile. If Warwick is anything like their properties at Wallkill and Patterson, they'll be painted concrete "Soviet style" structures that will begin crumbling as soon as they're built.
WT is acting in direct opposition to their claimed beliefs. While they claim that everyone will be throwing their money in the streets, WT has been cashing in properties worldwide for that "soon to be worthless" cash. Instead of them growing the organization, it is in contraction with properties and branches liquidate and personel sent away in search of other jobs (nothing like dedicating 30+ years as an unskilled WT drone and getting pushed out into the world during the worst economic downturn in decades). And with so many branches closed and operations consolidated to fewer countries, if the political climate changes in countries like Germany or Canada, WT's fortunes could be quickly changed and/or taxed.
